Market Values

With the latest market values updated on March 19 still in effect, Transfermarkt has compiled the most valuable starting XIs in the current Liga Portugal Betclic. We have built three distinct squads, each with its own tactical setup.

**4-4-2**

The first XI, arranged in a 4-4-2 formation, features goalkeeper Diogo Costa in goal, protected by a defensive line of Alberto Costa, Ousmane Diomande, Gonçalo Inácio, and Maxi Araújo. The midfield duo consists of Morten Hjulmand and Rodrigo Mora, with Francisco Trincão and Geovany Quenda on the wings. Upfront, the strike partnership is formed by Vangelis Pavlidis and Samu Aghehowa. Overall, Sporting leads with six representatives, followed by FC Porto with four, and Benfica with just one. This eleven is valued at €402 million.

**4-3-3**

Switching to a 4-3-3, Pavlidis makes way for a midfielder, in this case Alan Varela. With this change, the squad’s market value remains unchanged, as the Greek striker and the Argentine midfielder share the same valuation of €32 million. However, Benfica loses its only representative, leaving the team composed of six Sporting players and five from FC Porto.

**3-5-2**

Finally, the 3-5-2 formation emerges as the most expensive of all, with a total valuation of €424 million. This is achieved by removing the two lowest-valued players from the previous teams—full-backs Alberto Costa and Maxi Araújo—and adding an extra center-back, Sporting’s Zeno Debast. The midfield trio from the 4-3-3 and the attacking duo from the 4-4-2 remain intact.

In the gallery below, we list the 30 most valuable players currently in the Portuguese league, following our latest market value update about two months ago.
