Eric DeCosta has risen to become one of the most respected general managers in the NFL, but his journey with the Baltimore Ravens began in a much humbler setting nearly three decades ago. During an interview on 105.7 The Fan, DeCosta looked back on joining the team when its scouting department was still in its infancy.
“My office was in the hallway right next to Ozzie. Whenever Ozzie needed anything, he would just call my name. I used to drive players to the airport and the hospital, hold bags at practice, and fold things,” DeCosta recalled.
He explained that those early experiences gave him a deep appreciation for every part of the organization, as everyone had to pitch in wherever necessary. Today, the Ravens operate with one of the largest personnel departments in the league, making DeCosta’s memories of the franchise’s early years even more remarkable.
