The Doosan Bears defeated the KIA Tigers 5-1 on Tuesday at Gwangju’s Kia Champions Field, extending their winning streak to three games and moving into sole possession of fifth place in the KBO League standings.
Starter Choi Seung-yong earned his first win of the season after a strong outing, holding the Tigers to one run over five innings while allowing five hits, three walks, and striking out two. Choi had entered the game with an 0-4 record in seven appearances this year.
Choi allowed an early run in the first inning when Kim Sun-bin delivered a run-scoring single with one out and a runner on third. However, he escaped a bases-loaded, two-out jam by inducing Yoon Do-hyun to pop out, preventing further damage.
The Bears responded in the third inning. Jung Soo-bin and Park Ji-hoon hit back-to-back triples off KIA starter Adam Oller to tie the game at 1-1. Two batters later, Oh Myung-jin lifted a sacrifice fly to left field, giving Doosan a 2-1 lead.
The game remained a pitcher’s duel until the sixth inning, when the Bears broke it open. Oh Myung-jin led off with a single, advanced on a sacrifice by Park Chan-ho, and Kim Min-seok drew a walk to put runners on the corners. Park Joon-soon then crushed a three-run homer over the right-field wall, extending the lead to 5-1.
The Bears’ bullpen held the Tigers scoreless over the final three innings to secure the victory. Park Joon-soon finished 1-for-4, but his lone hit proved decisive, a go-ahead three-run shot that changed the course of the game.
