After an experimental and adjustment-filled first round, the Ningxia Super League is truly hitting its stride. The atmosphere and organization are proving that even a smaller league can offer its own unique excitement.
The second round kicks off this weekend, packed with anticipation and storylines. Teams are already pulling out all the stops.

**1. Zhongwei vs. Wuzhong: Draw or Loss for the Visitors**
Zhongwei hits the road again for the second round, this time facing Wuzhong. In a bid to boost morale, they’ve organized a 260-strong away support group, hoping to turn the tables and secure their first win. Wuzhong, playing at home, will be equally desperate to open their account. The Olympic Sports Center, their home ground, has the capacity to host concerts, which will likely create a massive home-crowd advantage and pressure on Zhongwei.
Zhongwei is hunting for a maiden victory, but Wuzhong is just as eager to win on their home turf. Expect a fierce, high-spirited contest – maybe even a draw, but both sides will be throwing everything into it. Historically, Zhongwei has been known for its defensive strength, guarding the key Yellow River crossing at Shengjin Pass. Wuzhong, on the other hand, has risen from a small fortress to a prefecture-level city, showing its resilience.
**2. Lingwu vs. Yinchuan: A Draw**
Lingwu will host Yinchuan in one of two local derbies this round. After a strong performance in their first home game, Lingwu’s confidence is high, and they’ll be eager to prove they’re no pushovers against the capital city. Expect them to put up a serious fight.
Yinchuan, meanwhile, opened their campaign with an impressive win, but now they face a real test of their credentials – an away derby. It’s a 50-50 match. These two teams know each other inside out. One was once the region’s top dog, the other is the current leader. Tactics might get creative, but the real battle is mental – derbies aren’t about who’s better, but who’s tougher and more determined. A true “street derby” – pride is on the line.

**3. Guyuan vs. Ningdong: Draw or Loss for the Home Side**
Guyuan returns home to face Ningdong, desperate to prove themselves in front of their local fans after an unfortunate own goal in the first round. They have a chance against the visiting Ningdong “Iron Army,” but it’s all down to how stable Ningdong can be. Can Ningdong walk away with points, or even all three? It depends on their consistency.
Expect Ningdong to sit back and counter, testing Guyuan’s patience. If Guyuan gets too aggressive and leaves gaps at the back, Ningdong could snatch a goal. Guyuan has a chance, but Ningdong is more likely to escape with at least a point – maybe even steal three.
**4. Shizuishan vs. Pingluo: Home Loss**
Shizuishan showed defensive vulnerability in their first match away to Yinchuan, and now, despite being at home, they face a professional-level team in Pingluo. It’s a tough ask.
Pingluo treats the Ningxia Super League almost as a training ground while they focus on other professional competitions. Expect them to take this game comfortably. This is a classic mismatch: a small team against a “professional academy” outfit. Pingluo’s squad is here to find form and rhythm, so they’re clearly the favorites. Shizuishan needs to tighten up at the back and hope for a lucky break to create an upset. Realistically, Pingluo should win, so Shizuishan will be aiming to keep the score respectable.
**Preview Highlights for Round Two:**
* **Sound Battle:** Wuzhong’s Olympic Sports Center crowd vs. Zhongwei’s away support – which side can make the most noise?
* **Derby Drama:** Lingwu and Yinchuan – who truly holds the bragging rights as the region’s top side?
* **Mental Battle:** Can Guyuan shake off their opening-day disappointment? Can Ningdong maintain their composure and control?
* **Class Gap:** Can Shizuishan cause trouble for Pingluo, or will they be comfortably outclassed?
All will be revealed this weekend. The Ningxia Super League may be small, but it’s certainly not short on drama!
Who are you supporting? For me, it’s Yinchuan all the way. Go Yinchuan!
