Russian Judo Team Tops Medal Table at Astana Grand Slam

The Russian national judo team claimed first place in the medal standings at the Grand Slam tournament held in Astana from May 8 to 10. The squad secured a total of eight medals: three gold, two silver, and three bronze.

Gold medalists included Danil Lavrentiev (under 73 kg), Inal Tasoev (over 100 kg), and Elis Startseva (over 78 kg). Silver medals were won by Saygid Kerimov (under 66 kg) and Dali Liliuashvili (under 63 kg). Bronze medals went to Kristina Dudina (under 48 kg), Liliya Nugaeva (under 52 kg), and Ramazan Abdulaev (under 66 kg).

France finished second in the medal count with three gold, one silver, and one bronze, while Kazakhstan placed third with two gold, two silver, and four bronze.

Russian athletes competed under their national flag and with the national anthem, a privilege restored by the International Judo Federation (IJF) in November 2025.
