Sports analyst Nick Wright has voiced a pointed critique of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, arguing that the Oklahoma City Thunder star’s effectiveness drops significantly when he isn’t consistently drawing fouls from defenders.
Wright contended that Gilgeous-Alexander performs at an elite, all-time level when officials favor his aggressive playing style, but slips to a lower tier when those calls aren’t made.
“When he’s guarded normally and plays normally, he goes down from peak Michael Jordan to peak Dwyane Wade,” Wright remarked.
