Opening Sunday’s episode of “El Chiringuito” by congratulating Barcelona on their league title, he then took aim at Mbappe: “And Mbappe watches the match, then posts a picture of the TV screen with the score 2-0. Oh my God, Mbappe! You should have posted it when it was 0-0, man! Show some Madrid spirit. Oh, Mbappe, what a transfer that was.”
Mbappe’s gesture did not go unnoticed by Real Madrid supporters. Social media erupted in anger, with many calling for the player to be sold. Critics argued that in two years since joining, he has failed to prove himself and has not won any major trophy, while his former club Paris Saint-Germain appears more stable without him.
Journalist José Luis Sánchez also joined the criticism on “El Chiringuito Inside,” saying: “I don’t know if it was ill-intentioned, but it’s another blunder in a series of blunders over recent months. I see it as a very foolish move to post that message when the score is 2-0. He should have done it before the match. I’m fed up with all this nonsense: Instagram, messages, and arguments. Show your character on the pitch, for God’s sake, and leave these trivialities aside. Mbappe, keep your post to yourself. Respect the greatest club in history.”
These criticisms come amid growing scrutiny of Mbappe’s off-field behavior, following a string of incidents that have raised doubts about his commitment — from missing matches to appearing at controversial social events, and even laughing on the day of the altercation between Tchouaméni and Valverde at Valdebebas.
Despite all this, reports suggest that Real Madrid is not considering selling Mbappe at this time. However, the pressure from fans and media is mounting, and the French star is clearly expected to reconsider his actions if he wants to regain the trust of the supporters and honor the club’s shirt.
